FP-Safe - The Down-To-Earth Safety Solution for Panasonic PLCs
27 Apr 2010
FP series PLCs from Panasonic Electric Works have proven themselves in the field for more than 20 years. Now the Panasonic PLC family has been extended to include units equipped with safety-related functions, certified according to DIN EN62061 SIL CL3.
Meet FP-Safe!
With the FP-Safe series, Panasonic can integrate the stringent safety requirements of the modern, industrial world into that of a flexible, standard PLC environment in a simple and cost-effective way. FP-Safe units are connected to the FP series via RS232C so that information about the execution status of safety-related functions as well as when and where they occurred can be monitored. If you require such information to be visualized, a Panasonic HMI can be added to your setup, allowing you to quickly diagnose points of error. This reduces machine downtime and, in turn, increases profit.
FP-Safe is modular, multifunctional system. Up to 5 safety-related functions can be configured for one base unit, e.g. emergency stop, two-hand function, protection cover, permission, as well as simple standstill and motion monitoring, etc. Expansion units with transistor and relay outputs allow you to add even more safety circuits. For advanced motion safety such as standstill, speed and direction of rotation monitoring, a motion monitoring unit can be attached to the base unit.
An intuitive configurator software allows you to easily program the FP-Safe series with the safety functions you require. Moreover, a function block that reads diagnostic information from the FP-Series is available free of charge for Control FPWIN Pro, Panasonic’s programming software for PLCs.
The FP-Safe series is scheduled to be launched during the second quarter of 2010.
